Hailing from Asheville, North Carolina, Day & Dream is a duo that offers an indie rock sound wrapped up in dream pop and shoegaze styles. Formed by long time artists and musicians Peter Friccante and Abby Amaya, the pair initially met in New York City but didn’t start a band together until they made the move to Asheville.
They both bring their own unique backgrounds and influences to the project, Abby’s roots are in California 60s coastal pop while Peter brings his post-punk indie rock tendencies to the table. Now working together, in music and as husband and wife in life, they showcase their love of lo-fi lounge, vast dreamy soundscapes full of fuzzy guitars, jazz tones and melodic pop constructions.
As opposites in their daily schedule preferences – Peter the early riser and Abby the night owl – the band’s name is a nod to their unaligned sleep patterns. Singed to Lilystars Records, the now bring us their new album, The Art Of Remembering.
On their latest full-length release, they deliver the very best of their dream pop sound full of shimmering instrumentation and softly sweeping vocal lines all dripping in a reverb that stretches for miles. With eleven new songs on the record, they once again show why they’re an outfit in demand, after being shortlisted to play SXSW 2022, they’ve secured the slot and will play the iconic festival later this year.
