Seattle-based musician Matt McClure is the front-man for the bands The Figurants and Red Kitchen but he also writes, records and releases music under his own name as a solo artist. An accomplished writer and performer, Matt McClure offers a melodic indie rock sound defined by energetic guitar work and catchy vocal lines.
As a prolific composer, material flows freely from the artist who releases with three outfits including his own work. With The Figurants, he found himself writing music as a follow up to their last album a few years ago.
After critically damaging his computer, he spent an entire year recording directly onto his iPhone, even able to record full drum takes after his drummer had retired. Now those songs he recorded take shape in a new album under his solo outing with the record Goodby Felons.
With the twelve original tracks, Matt McClure tells the story of an ancient spirit who returns to Earth after thousands of years by inhabiting the body of a small town Sheriff addicted to his own anger. In parallel to the fantasy story he spins, the album also covers the artist’s own life and struggles with experiences during the pandemic.
