Portland based electronic musician known to music enthusiasts as Emancipator, takes a natural approach to his art. The classically trained violinist, and veteran of more traditional bands during his college years, grew up in Fredericksburg, Virginia.
Listening to his parents’ wide ranging collection of albums – Kraftwerk, Orbital, Fleetwood Mac – as well as the African sounds his mother discovered during her years in the Peace Corps, profoundly influenced his expansive approach to music making.
The music on his most recent effort, Mountain of Memory, continues to refine and consolidate his creative ethos. The free flowing tracks effortlessly encapsulate his entire musical history. He’s recently followed up the album with a series of remixes including the focus track ‘Blue Dream’, receiving a flip from Koresma.
The electronic producer hails from the mountains of Asheville, NC but is currently based in Los Angeles, California. Koresma creates a blend of chilled electro-acoustic music centred around a strong drum groove.
Inspired by landscapes and their influence on sounds, Koresma is currently working on a four part album based on the theme of a compass. Two of four EP’s, East and West, are out now and North is on the way. Stay connected for the journey at any of the socials linked.
He offers a downtempo buzz rework of Emancipator’s track, full of popping rhythms and dreamy atmosphere. Fluttering synths provide an anchor to the sound which draws colour from lofty and stuttering high lines to reimagine the original sound through his own lens.
