Parisian-born AxMod is undoubtedly one of the most exciting up-and-coming producers to come out of the French music scene in recent years. The artist continues his recent string of releases with the new track ‘Less Is More’, dropped via independent French imprint Sidekick Music.
Furnished with a mission to produce “music to make people swoon”, AxModâs innate grasp of musical language and sonic texture is abundantly apparent in both his fun-fuelled remixes (for the likes of Chromeo, Saint Germain, Florence & The Machine, Major Lazer and Justin Timberlake to name but a few) and his own unique original productions.
Brought up in an apartment just next to the Rock En Seine festival in Paris, where him and his friends would attempt to sneak in each year, AxMod fell in love with electronic music as a teenager, inspired by iconic French artists from Cassius, Breakbot and Daft Punk to Martin Solveig, Alan Braxe and Modjo.
2020 saw the artist pursuing his breakthrough via a stunning string of releases, wrapped up with the critically-acclaimed ‘Need My Heart’ and ‘I Imagined You’. He now picks up where he left off to start the year with a much-needed dose of musical optimism, and drops his brand new heater ‘Less Is More’.
Released via Sidekick Music, the track is a sophisticated Deep-House piece combining heavy brasses, crisp drums and sparkling synths, layered under a captivating atmosphere. The whole unleashes a powerful drop, with punchy beats and this infectious melody that will stay in your head from your first listen.
A high-octane, bass heavy heater, his new effort shows his panache for creating a driving sonic energy. Squeaky clean production allows the beats to snap while an array of bouncing synths and vocal samples lift the piece to a pounding intensity.
Always juggling between genres and experimenting new sounds, the Paris-based artist shows no sign of slowing down; and ‘Less Is More’ reminds us again why AxMod is such a prominent name to watch for 2021.
