Safari Gold found success in their mid-teens under the name Cuba Cuba, following on from bands like Kids in Glasshouses and Funeral For a Friend during the Welsh power-pop zeitgeist of the earls 2010′s. In 2011 the band played Reading & Leeds festival and were approached my legendary US label mogul Seymour Stein about a deal.
This early success at such a young age caused some difficulties which led to the quartet hitting the brakes on their career and disappearing for almost a decade. Their re-introduction with debut album in 2018 was met with high praise and was warmly welcomed. After an unusual decade, the original members are still making music and somehow, still don’t hate each other
Now, the enigmatic Welsh alt-pop quartet re-emerge with brooding new single “Instant America”, released via Pet Shop Records. The new track from the Cardiff-based outfit showcases their sophisticated song writing and deep textured sound, off-set by vocalist Morgan Isaac’s signature falsetto.
“Instant America” is a song of community, the divisiveness in society that came to a head in late 2020 led the band questioning the state of our states. It’s a song of hope that there is something better, a more inclusive ideology and a happier, safer, more tolerant society.
Channeling the sounds of artists such as Amber Run and Bon Iver, the brand craft a mesmeric sonic world threaded with rhythm and soaring vocal delivery. Both warm and eerie, “Instant America” offers a taste of what’s to come.
The new track is taken from Safari Gold’s forthcoming sophomore album planned for release in late 2021 with more singles and live shows planned once it is safe to do so.
