Catch The Rise is a music project from American producer and composer Britt Barker. Driven by electronic-based production and live guitar instrumentation, the music of Catch The Rise creates a unique, atmospheric space for the listener to have an experience- to reflect, to be energised or to simply escape.
Drifting between the boundaries of indie, downtempo, post rock and electronica, Catch The Rise released the debut EP, Trust, in the summer of 2020 and was listed by music publication Arctic Drones as a “Top-10 Indie Electronic” Album of the year. The most popular track to date is a moody remix of house producer Rogg Collins‘ “Off My Mind” and has been featured by BeatRader, Stereofox, and Veranation.
Now the producer returns with the grooving chillwave track “Soda And Lime” released via High Vibe Records.
Commenting on the new track, the artist offers, “When I was in high school, there was a cover of Snoop Dogg’s “Gin and Juice” by a band called The Gourds and it was the best party song – so many good memories with that song. I wanted to make a track that was fun and had a similar uplifting way about it- something that would stick with you. I tend to make tracks that are more moody so making “Soda and Lime” was a fun journey into some fresh musical territory.”
Continuing, “I found the vocal sample from a trap sound pack. It sounded more like a chant but I knew there was something really interesting there. So mixed it up and processed it out bit. I named it “Soda and Lime” as a wink to “Gin and Juice”. I got older and quit drinking booze, so now my go-to drink is club soda and lime.”
Crafting a beat-driven sound, on “Soda And Lime” the producer delivers a warm and upbeat sound, invoking nostalgic emotions, “I wanted to frame the song within an old record player or old juke box motif by incorporating some of those elements within the production and in the mix – like the distorted guitars towards the end of the break that eventually sound like they lose power or the record stopping at the end.”
