Originating from the mountains of the Pacific Northwest, electronic producer Rohne has spent recent years honing his craft while traveling the world with a laptop, headphones, and field recorder. The culmination of ideas and inspirations captured at his home studio, mobile set ups in India, and places in-between, lead to the release of his debut work Meridian. The album, which represents the blooming of a bond between Rohne, his art, and the world around him was released in 2018.
Following the first release, a dedication to creating stillness through a simple life unfolded. Days of isolation, walks in the forest, and studio time stood as the foundation to explore his love of philosophy and the boundaries of creativity.
Drawing influences from a wide range of genres, lush, organic and ethereal sounds, Rohne’s nuanced style of electronic music is an intimate and immersive experience of its own.
Now over a year since his last release, Rohne breaks the silence with the new track “Ceres” – a blend of lush ambience, foley recordings, driving sub, and broken house rhythms. The emotive yet expansive track seems to act as the perfect departure from his debut album, taking his sound gently into a more club oriented direction.
A shuffling downtempo beat carries the subtle energy of the track with a dreamy arrangement of warm synth instrumentation and floaty vocal samples combining to create a delicate groove.
Commenting on the track, the artist offers, “Ceres was produced in a basement studio I had set up in the middle of winter. I remember sketching out the main melody on the Rhodes, layering the ambience, and building the drums out of foley recordings I took in the forest.”
Continuing, “The sketch started to paint the picture of this vast open landscape to me. That image really stood out, and finishing the track almost felt like an escape from the studio to that place.”
