Perth-based producer RUUSE has spent the past three years exploring the vast expanse of genres that encapsulates the world of Electronic music. Broadly influenced by everything from drum and bass and hip-hop, to pop and sample-based soundscapes, it took years of experimentation for the artist to solidify a sound that was truly his own.
Shaped by the year that was 2020, when exposure to new music shifted from live events to bedroom listening parties, the RUUSE EP explores our emotional ties to physical locations, the powerful feelings they can conjure, the importance of diversity, and the consequences of disconnection.
Lifted from the new EP is the lead track “Gnarabup”, a driving blend of house and melodic techno, Gnarabup is the sound of heaven in the southwest of Australia.
An array of PADs and bouncing synth lines demonstrate the producer’s panache for creating instrumental energy while the beat powers the spirit of the sound.
