Barcelona-based producer duo Meet Once Again is formed of two former colleagues who found themselves having to share a small flat for a couple of months. In this crucial time of their lives, they discovered a shared and profound passion for electronic music. With just a laptop and a midi keyboard in the limited space, they began a creative journey.
The pair combine violins, piano keys, deep bass lines and syncopated rhythms to merge into an awareness of growth, of solitude, of love lost and reencountered. With that, they create music for listening, music for dancing, music for celebrating the contrasts of life.
The spires of the city’s gothic quarter embracing the first daylight. Soft sounds, distant cheers in the hazy, warm light. The scent of clubs. Crossing paths with people from every corner of the world. Timeless stories intertwined into an infinite dance. Falling in love with these stories, as they now are a part of you. Forgotten dances and eclectic sounds echoing through the old town are the postcards of these nights.
Lifted from the EP Gateway to the Continent, which is about a journey through isolation and self-discovery, they bring us the track “Babel”. The protagonist here is at the beginning of the journey, confronted with the fear of the Other, by meeting unfamiliar people and situations. They give him energy and rhythm, but he can’t really speak their language. He is willing for higher levels of connection and intimacy, but the barriers of communication are still high.
Each melody is an external voice echoing obsessively within him; he lets these voices in but he can’t really connect with them, and they all leave in frustration, faced with the violence of incompatibility and the feeling of not belonging. But ultimately the violence disappears and a genuine sense of peace and acceptance of conflict raises from its delicate ending.
With “Babel” the duo creates a euphoric electronic journey. The rich and textured sound scape ebbs and flows between delicate rhythms and epic synth crescendos on this intriguing foray into their sound.
