Electronic producer based in the mountains of Asheville, North Carolina, Koresma brings us his remix of fellow North Carolinian artist Sam Island.
Koresma creates a blend of chilled electro-acoustic music centred around a strong drum groove. Inspired by landscapes and their influence on sounds, the producer is currently working on a four part album based on the theme of a compass.
No stranger to the game, Sam Island has previously worked with famous rapper, producer and director Mez (Dr. Dre, J. Cole). The singer-songwriter and producer has been crafting his unique Indie-Folk sound, taking his cues from Neil Young, J Dilla, Johnny Cash and Fleet Foxes. He writes music that genuinely connects to the listener through the raw vulnerability and passion in every word he sings.Â
The inspiration for the original track “Light” came from the birth of his daughter after his father was being incarcerated and the pandemic was hitting its peak.
After releasing his debut single, the artist called on producer Koresma to rework the heartfelt tune. Channeling the inspiration, the remix turns the original vocal into an airy, fresh electronic tune that gives a glimpse of hope during the dark times. The remix features catchy vocal chops, lush synths, and a soaring violin lead to add a new flair to the emotive sensibilities of the original release.
