London based techno producer Daniel Avery brings us his latest offering with the shimmering new track “Hazel and Gold”. The track takes on a minimal approach to create an atmospheric, trance-inducing techno sound. The track is paired with visuals from frequent Avery collaborator Tom Andrew.
With his upcoming seated and socially distanced Together In Static live shows at London’s Hackney Church now set for 29th May, the producer shares another exquisite taster of the upcoming eponymous album. Set for release on June 24th via Phantasy worldwide and Phantasy/Mute in the United States and Canada, the record is preceded by four global streams the day prior.
Commenting on the release, the artist offers, “Much like the previous record Love + Light from last year, Together in Static felt like it arose from nowhere in the most positive way, full of joy and hope for the future. It was a beautiful crystal cocoon in which I could fully immerse myself.”
Adding, “People sometimes ask me about what I use in the studio, what equipment I collect but those technical details are never really at the front of my mind. For me I’ve always been drawn to something more abstract. I love the idea of taking these machines, wherever they may come from, and making them sing with a human heart or a living soul. This track definitely comes from that place. It’s something of an electronic love letter to a special person in my life and I’m really proud of it.“
Together in Static comes almost a year to the day after Avery’s surprise third studio album Love + Light, released last June in the midst of the coronavirus crisis. Where his previous record was hailed by NME as “a heartfelt eulogy for the hedonism we’re missing this summer,” hope and expectation course through the new album.
