Techno and experimental artist hailing from Melbourne, Australia, Charles Oliver has previously had his music supported by the likes of Laurent Garnier, Faithless (Sister Bliss), and Maceo Plex. In 2017, his first EP Heights hit the Top 10 Techno Chart and Top 100 on Beatport globally. Following on to 2021, his singles “Correction), “Blind” and “Fragility” have gained plays across Kiss FM UK (Ben Malone), as well as Australia’s Triple J Radio (The Aston Shuffle).
Along with featuring on Decoded Magazine, AAA Backstage and Proton Radio, Charles has already cut his teeth across Australia’s largest festivals and clubs, warming up for the likes of Extrawelt, Max Cooper and Sebastian Mullaert. Highlights include Rainbow Serpent Festival, and regular sets at Melbourne’s renowned Revolver Upstairs. Oliver’s sound incorporates heavy industrial beats, glitchy abstract percussion, laced with evocative melodies.
Now the producer untethers a heavy, driving, emotionally dense melodic techno remix for another one of Melbourne’s talented artists, Daniel Joshua. Utilising deep hypnotic bass-lines and haunting effects on the vocals, Oliver twists a 6/4 timing acoustic piece into a 4/4 dance track. “Hivemind”, describes a story about abuse of power, with Oliver’s interpretation heavily emphasising the darker undertones throughout.
