London-based songsmith MULIMBA previously fronted indie outfit HAUS, with elements of their sound spilling over into MULIMBA’s new electronic-soul focused offering. His songwriting is shot through with naked emotion, utilising crunching indie and searing soul, gospel-influences and rock distortion, atmospheric piano lines and surging electronics.
“Here I Go” is the stirring new genre-defying, alternative anthem from MULIMBA. Emerging onto the scene in 2019, MULIMBA is honing his sound on this new track; featuring a soulful yet indie vocal delivery, electronic hooks and gospel beats with pulsating drums that cut through to your very soul. The track conjures up powerful images of marching to freedom and MULIMBA shows no signs of slowing down.
Commenting on the new release, the artist offers, “Here I Go is a tune we wrote during the Black Lives Matter protests in London. It’s weird because I was struggling with my own sense of weakness at the time, and the protests really lifted me up, so the song sort of hits both those nails at the same time. It’s about how we treat each other, and how you treat yourself.”
Continuing, “Sometimes when you’re struggling it can help to have like minded people or your loved ones around you to remind you just how strong you are and that’s what we wanted to capture in the video as well.”
