Rapper and Hip Hop artist hailing from Long Island, Justin Starling first found recognition in 2015 when he started sharing short freestyle clips on social media. He was quick to stand out from the crowd and as such, grew a following and caught the attention NBA star and hip-hop aficionado Damian Lilliard. Most importantly, however, his digital success carried over into his live performances, as he became a mainstay on the college touring scene, where his intense, high energy performances cemented his reputation as an artist to be taken seriously.
In 2018 he dropped his first official release with the EP 20Gr8teen, which became an immediate hit with fans and critics alike, with Urban Flaiire praising it as capturing “the epitome of hustle.” From there, Justin would only scale his momentum, releasing a new song every week for the entire year of 2019. Each track displayed a new side of the resourceful artist and deepened his already strong connection with his fanbase.
His relentless hard work and motivation paid off, with Justin hitting the million mark with his popular song “Fed Up”. From appearing on Sway in the morning, to opening for artists such as Meek Mill and Lil Yachty, each milestone is a stepping stone.
Now he brings us his latest work with the track “Create Yourself” which was co-written by Justin with Grover Braam. The track is the theme song for the recent “I Am Kobe” official podcast from iheartradio. The podcast visits recordings from the lost tapes of Kobe Bryant from 30 years ago and with the track “Create Yourself”, Justin Starling and Grover Braam draw inspiration from Bryant’s relentless pursuit to be the absolute best, most hard-working basketball player ever; the first one to show up on the court, the last one to leave.
