UK-based singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Matt Saxton carves his own poignant brand of rock and folk music. Over a career that spans two decades and with four albums under his belt, his music has been consistently well received, most notably when in 2015 Google featured his acoustic guitar song “Seabird” on their homepage bringing him fans and downloads from across the world.
The following year, he released a new single “Greeneland” about the author Graham Greene on The Animal Farm record label. His most recent full-length release, 2018’s “I Wasn’t Looking For Love” was produced and recorded by Ville and Matt Leppanen at their London studio.
Now he returns with his latest release, the stunningly elegant “Animal”, which is the lead single from his upcoming new album. A song written with winter in mind, “Animal” captures the seasonal essence of leaves falling down, animals hibernating and birds migrating.
Melancholic and emotive, on “Animal” Matt Saxton delivers a somber piece, drawing beauty from a gloomy sentiment. It’s a plaintive and deeply personal song with a haunting piano motive and beautiful backing vocals in the chorus, creating a sound that will resonate with those who feel a touch of Winter Blues.
