Joshua Zero is an act who have developed a delightfully shiny nü rock sound, coupled with a distinct stage presence that’s seamlessly developed from cutting their teeth on sticky floors of Leeds’s music venues. Since perfecting their initial sound and stage presence, they’ve moved to London to further ride on the wave of their reputation.
With a string of single receiving critical acclaim, the band took their sound way beyond the capital, supporting Berlin-outfit Soybomb on their UK tour. No stranger to collaboration, with upcoming releases with Soybomb and Long Legged Creatures on the horizon, they look ahead to releasing more studio music with and upcoming debut EP, alongside a rescheduled UK tour.
Pairing delicate melodic vocal deliver with bursting instrumentation, Zero’s music chronicles the absurdity of the human condition laid bare for all to see, a frantic dervish of carefully curated instrumentals and souped up skiffles. Joshua Zero is an artist who documents their love of poetry translates into their music, extrapolating a poignant symmetry between his love of music and spoken word.
Now Zero brings us the new track “0800 Angels”, the second single lifted from the forthcoming EP. Zero’s trademark elegant vocals soar impeccably above the cold landscape of fuzzed out sludge guitars, creating a euphoric alternative rock anthem.
Written through the hazy memory of late-night romance and forgotten perfume, the release details a lost soul’s call for answers. The stark juxtaposition of crunching, impactful rock arrangement swims perfectly against the sweeping tide of the serene wash of the vocal delivery.
Commenting on the single, Zero offers, “It was just one of those songs that just happened to come out of me. It was written as I was coming out of heavy depressive episode and represents the feeling of being lost at a loose end.”
