Vancouver-based singer-songwriter and music producer, Spence Paull leverages her dynamic musical experience to create a fresh and genre-crossing sound. Finding inspiration in the ear candy chord structures of jazz, and story-rich lyrics from Musical Theatre, Spence’s take on pop is uniquely her own.
Originally growing up tone deaf until the age of eight, she suddenly woke up one morning able to sing following the death of her Grandmother, the only musician in the family.
She quickly ascended to performing on some of Vancouver’s largest stages – including the Queen Elizabeth Theatre and Nat Bailey Stadium – and began writing and recording her own music at just eleven years old. Whether her musical abilities were spiritually inherited or not, it’s clear that since finding her voice, the artist has paired it with exceptional writing talent to create her own brand of charming jazz pop.
She’s currently working on Dear Mistress, a concept album that chronicles the up-and-down nature of a musician’s relationship with music set to the backdrop of a tumultuous relationship. Linking with other emerging musician and producer talents, she plans to continue dropping powerful pop singles.
Now she brings us her latest single with the track “When I’m Lonely”. Despite the sombre context, she delivers a contrasting colourful jam that’s both upbeat and emotionally relatable. Packed with grooving rhythms she lays down her flawless vocal lines on this fiercely catchy single, all wrapped up in perfect production.
