Originally a Philadelphia native, producer and founding member of the band Hypothetical, SØ now resides in Atlanta, GA. The platinum certified producer got his first break by a chance encounter at a mall with Metro Boomin, which has since led to an impressively extensive list of collaborations with the likes of Travis Scott, 21 Savage, Kodak Black, Typical Div, and Yung Roni. Now, the producer has linked up with Manchester-based artist Odaye on his latest single “That’s Wild”.
The transatlantic partnership was born from a connection formed via TikTok with Odaye sending over a demo version of the track, making “That’s Wild” a true fruit of the digital age. A break-up anthem, “That’s Wild” offers a hook-driven indie pop piece with bags of jazz-infused charm and wide commercial appeal.
Odaye’s smooth vocals float over a grooving, upbeat track of colourful instrumentation all wrapped up in squeaky clean production. Offering a contrasting mix of uplifting sound with the familiar sad feeling of being left ‘on read’.
Commenting on the track, SØ offers, “We just wanted to create a nice groove that contained emotional vocals and lyrics, juxtaposed with an upbeat instrumental.”
Continuing, “The song is about reminiscing on earlier times with an ex. It ebbs and flows between a melancholy chorus, and vibey verses. We think it accurately describes the feeling of the honeymoon phase, and also the ‘looking back’ aspect.”
