Indie folk artist Dango Rose has been touring all over the world in various bands for seventeen years. He co-founded the pioneering transcendental folk outfit Elephant Revival, spending eleven years with the group and penning band favourites such as “When I Fall”, “The Pasture”, “Jet Lag Blues” and more.
With Elephant Revival going on hiatus in May 2018, Dango embarked on his solo career where he embraces a passion for music as a vital healing influence and spiritual path, creating and collaborating to support harmony and truth. Born with a poet’s soul and a warrior’s heart, his life’s journey has been one of transformation, a journey that reflects profoundly in his own music.
With his time spent behind the writer’s desk and in the studio coming to fruition, he’s currently releasing a collection of rough draft EPs in a series called The Forgotten Years. Commenting on his writing process, he offers, “Songwriting for me has always been a vessel for processing work, and I believe that through this undertaking it becomes an expression of healing.”
Across The Forgotten Years, fans will hear traditional lyricism, experimental genres and storylines that Rose has never before shared. Written during his time of tour with Elephant Revival the aptly titled releases remained locked in a vault-like preservation, and upon their release many years later they offer a culmination of Dango’s seventeen year journey on the road, inviting us to see his struggles and his transformation from a different point of view.
Now he brings us the second release in the collection, with The Forgotten Years: Vol. II. The new EP highlights a more experimental and collaborative phase with deeper subject matter, adding subtle electronic elements. Ever the sonic innovator, his originality nods to a new style called steam pop, offering a fusion of pop, folk and roots sounds all wrapped up with delicate electronic motifs.
