Formed in Northampton in 2019, four piece band Kinships offer a genre-shifting sound that blends delicate vocals, pianos, and guitars juxtaposed with drum machines, samples, and synthesisers. Creating a collision between the organic and electronic, they fuse their own take on indie pop music.
Already with a string of singles released, they’re back with a new EP, titled Vice, showing no signs of slowing down. The new EP is a swirling body of work, melding disparate electronic, alternative and indie sounds to create intriguing alternative pop songs.
Across the five tracks, Kinships show an adeptness for crafting captivating modern indie music, deservedly catching the attention of new fans and tastemakers alike. Despite being a relatively new outfit, the band shows a refined maturity in their writing and accomplished musicianship in their performance and arrangement.
Commenting on the context behind the release, they share, “The EP focuses on the internal forces that consume us and how we reckon with those things to find peace of mind.”
