Canadian artist VISSIA has been making music that resonates with fans around the world with her powerful vocals and penchant for storytelling writing. Capturing moments of monotonous everyday life, she spins them into relatable and captivating songs.
As an artist in hot demand for her live performances, she’s made high-profile appearances at festivals both sides of the Atlantic such as the UK’s Great Escape Festival, NXNE, the Edmonton Folk Music Festival and the Canmore Folk Music Festival. She’s also opened for the likes of Hawksley Workman, Jim Bryson, Matt Andersen and Lindi Ortega.
With her recent album, titled With Pleasure, her second full-length release that pines for connection, memories and nostalgic reflections of the blurry nights that meant everything, she offers the very best of her alternative pop sound.
Lifted from With Pleasure comes the single “I Just Wanna Hold U”, a melodically blissful indie pop piece that demonstrates her songwriting talent and an arrangement that lets her voice soar. Coming off the back of her recent Canadian tour, the single is paired with a music video which puts transformational visuals to her sound.
Commenting on the track, VISSIA says it’s about, “the unfixable break of a big love and being so close to the tragic mess of it all that clarity feels like it will be forever out of reach. You won’t find it looking through a bottle either, but sometimes coping looks like self-sabotage and that’s the best you can do with what you have at the time.”
