Trans-Atlantic music duo Antisolar is formed by Paris-based Olivier Raynal and L.A.-based Andrew Doolittle who have shared friendship and music partnership for almost twenty years. Despite living thousands of miles apart their creative connection has flourished as they’ve continued to write, record and release their unique brand of hook-driven indie rock.
The Franco-American pair met when Andrew dropped in on a recording session of Oliver’s previous band (Stripped Polaris) leading to more collaboration and eventually a blossoming new project of their own. Both intrinsically artistic at heart, they pursue other creative endeavours including film and TV acting, theatre and music directing. However, it’s with Antisolar that they offer the vehicle for their shared sonic vision.
Having already dropped a string of well-received singles such as “You Resurrect Me”, “Awake” and “Do We Tremble at Night?”, they’ve recently released another powerful rock piece with their trademark poignant lyrical writing.
The new single, titled “Sorry”, covers the realisation of a relationship that once seemed strong and destined to succeed fall apart and become broken beyond repair. Blending a mix of acoustic and electronic instrumentation, they frame a reflective song with powerful vocal work with a melodically charged sound.
Commenting on the new single, Andrew shares, “‘Sorry’ was the result of a long overdue journey into a past relationship of mine. It required moving past the sadness and hurt associated with those memories so I could try to understand the other side of the story, namely why my ex-girlfriend (rightly) came to the conclusion that it was better to call things off. Of course there’s some artistic liberty taken, but on the whole I hope I gained enough understand to create a fair assessment of how she views things.”
