Based in the city of Ottawa in Canada, rising hip hop artist Mazyn started writing tracks in his dorm room. As an Egyptian international student, he used this as a way of coping with homesickness, anxiety and the stress of being a student. These first ventures into songwriting would form the music that he went on to release under his previous moniker, Capé.
Within a year of dropping his own tracks, he earned a nomination for the “Hip Hop Artist of the Year” award by Faces Magazine in 2019. He also became part of Shifter Magazine’s top 10 rappers in Ottawa as well as being listed by Capcityhiphop as one of their top 50 rappers.
As a bilingual artist, he’s been releasing music in his second language – English – as well embracing his roots with raps in Arabic such as “Mafesh Monafes” and “Fayadan. Now he returns with his first release of 2022 and the new track “Already Made It”.
Produced by Mazyn himself in collaboration with the duo EffeNess, “Already Made It” shows an artist with significant ambition. Smooth vocal delivery with beat-perfect flow hop over a modern rap arrangement of beats and synth-based instrumentation.
Commenting on the track, the artist shares, “With this release I wanted to remind myself why and how I started this music thing. Writing raps in my dorm room without caring for a chorus or what to write to make the song sell. I told myself to just rap for 2 minutes and get that feeling back.”
