London-based artist Mike de Lis has recently ventured out on his latest solo project, Mono XL to offer his most personal musical endeavour to date. With a piquant blend of 80s beats, pulsing synth rhythms, rock guitar and poetic honesty carried by blissful melodies, he shares an unfiltered lens to his expansive sonic vision.
The Spanish-born artist has had a lifelong passion and dedication to music and uses his vast experience to write truly immersive songs. With Mono XL he crafts deeply atmospheric soundscapes to get lost in paired with hook-driven lead lines to create a catchy modern sound.
Now he’s linked up with producer Piti Varela for his latest music, a collaboration that sees the pair release Mono XL’s latest single titled “Brown Eyes” as well as the project’s first studio album set for release later this year.
On “Brown Eyes”, Mono XL lays down a psychedelic sonic trip through love-longing and nostalgia. In equal parts melancholic and uplifting, his latest single reveals an artist that’s a master of songwriting as well as an accomplished performer. Grooving rhythms collide with stabbing synths and atmospheric pads to create the backdrop for his soaring vocals to spin the dreamy and elegant sound.
