American artist Nina Helene Hirten creates music under the multimedia audiovisual project known as DEROSNEC. As a filmmaker and illustrator, she has a passion for storytelling which has inspired shots, movies and graphic novels as well as standalone pieces of drawn or painted images.
With her music, she lends her talents to singing, performing and songwriting, drawing on her unusually low voice and broad operatic range to blend a fusion of genres and styles within her moody and personal sonic worlds. With her lyrical writing, she covers themes from politics and philosophy to her own lived experiences and feelings to offer writing that’s both straightforward and laced with double meanings and word play.
Recently she released her new mini-album titled 3 Lives, marrying the three major chapters of her life so far; being a weird goth kid in San Fran, becoming a functioning adult in Canada and moving to LA to pursue her music career. Laying down a core sound of dark pop tinged with various sub-genres such as industrial and trip hop, she spins a deep sonic tapestry to translate her writing and experience through.
Lifted from the album comes the single and new music video for “Nighttime In The Desert”. Directed by Dans Karagannis, they create the perfect visual pairing to the music to create a vivid and cinematic audiovisual experience from a richly talented artist.
