Electronic music inspired by difficult times. Don’t Get Lemon are the heatwave trio from Texas combining their sonic sound with lyrics that find humour and inspiration in the dark world that surrounds us.
Don’t Get Lemon’s debut album Hyper Hollow Heaven, was released under à La Carte Records on March 26. It has a lyrical theme of anxiety and fear about how our futures are growing inherently darker. This new release finds Don’t Get Lemon enhancing their sonic experimentation by using a more complicated rhythmic approach. The band have described it as ”bigger and more anthemic at times, yet softer more introspective at others.”
From the blast of opener “The Film Star’s Car” to the closer “Purple Hour Kingdom”, about our last moments on earth. Hyper Hollow Heavens follows on from the themes of their initial releases. Talking about the album , Don’t Get Lemon explained that “With Hyper Hollow Heaven we were able to further expand on motifs and recurring themes that we had touched on before, but are now able to become more fleshed out in the album format, which is a big reason we wanted to release an album, instead of say constantly putting out singles, which is usually more beneficial for a band our size.”
