French-born singer-songwriter Romain Gutsy started his musical career in the 90s, playing accordion with French band Les Affamés and guitar in the Celtic band Daffy Plays Mandola. He’s also played with notable acts such as the Grammy award winner alt-Rock band Soul Asylum and American singer Calvin Russel.
After over 20 years of travelling all over the world, he returned in 2020 with a solo album under the alias The Red which featured songs composed on lyrics from classical American and Irish poetry. His other endeavours have seen him work on an EP in duet with Russian opera soprano Svetlana Kasyan as well as a record of songs in French, both currently under production.
Now he brings us the first single recorded and released under his own name, with the new track “If You See Her” lifted from his debut album When Leonard Met Dolly. Blending elements of alternative country and folk with touches of jazz ideas to create an incredibly original sound, the song talks about what you would like to be said to an old love that you haven’t seen for a long time.
With his typically gentle indie folk arrangements and crooning vocal work, on his new single he offers the very best of his vast songwriting and performing experience on a charming and worthy debut single for his latest project.
