The unidentified, one-man band The Electric Flea Show has just released his new debut album Art Club of Paintings. Through his drum samples, vintage keyboard sounds, acoustic guitar and effects, along with singing that overall we’re told might sound slightly unnerving, he uses deep lyrical themes of ‘lockdown’, life, death, dreams, and communication to tell a story through his music. His seventh track on the album Hold On is written to give a nod to a trans couple through an acoustic sound and voice.
Whether The Electric Flea Show located in Leeds is taking on the spirit of the famous Banksy, or if he’s just a guy who likes to enclose his identity, the anonymous The Electric Flea Show could possibly be the world’s leading psych-folk, indie alternative pop acoustic singer-songwriter.
Describing himself and his creative music style, The Electric Flea Show is “slightly arty pretentious nonsense with annoying fiddly bits – or maybe it’s distinctive top line intelligent song writing enhanced with clever bits and pieces. Whichever is fine by me. Or something else no one’s mentioned yet.”
Art Club of Paintings is an overall album full of emotions and thoughts of the talented artist thinking deeply and breathing shallowly (or breathing deeply and thinking shallowly) about ever so serious and personal subjects.
