With Briston Maroney‘s deluxe album round the corner, the buzz and excitement is bubbling.
Joining forces with super-producer John Congleton, Briston gives a taste of the deluxe version of his debut album Sunflower with “The Kitchen”.
“The Kitchen” is bursting with bright guitar flows and glistening drums. This record has a punk, indie, and alternative blend that has an all-American feel to it. The production on this record exudes freedom. “And somewhere between the kitchen and the casket is where I realized that I was slippin’ faster and faster on my thoughts over breakfast, check myself off my checklist.”
This record orbits around adulting for Briston and alludes to his success and what that comes with, not just the high points. The arrangement is energetic and compelling, generating a lively spirited atmosphere that genuinely feels like a party you wouldn’t want to miss. “But now it’s Friday and I’m alone where’s my cellphone, where’s my soul?” Briston sings, with his dazzling textured vocals, showing his vulnerable side. The message feels like a great representation of the Gen Z generation of feeling isolated at times, it’s a record for reflection and openness. “Why is my mother scared that I don’t miss her? And why ain’t I doin’ more to prove her wrong? Why do I try so hard to be remembered?”
Performing is like second nature to Briston, this zestful lively artiste has carried out performances in living rooms, jampacked clubs, and basements and has a roster of touring in sold-out shows across the globe. This early twenty-something-year-old is bold and fierce and this has to be his calling.
The deluxe version of Sunflower is set to be released on April the 29th. This new single is delivered with a music video, directed by long-time collaborator Joey Brodnax.
