Contact Light is a band from outside Philadelphia that isn’t afraid to blend genres and styles to create their own unique mix of pop-punk, indie and emo. The three-piece outfit is made up of frontman Joey Lantonio, guitarist Will Johnston, and Steven Hoehl on drums who all met via friends of friends in the local music scene.
Joey originally formed the project back in 2016 before Steven joined in 2020 and Will completed the lineup in 2021. Over the last two years they’ve been going from strength to strength, performing with some of the biggest names currently emerging in the Philly music scene.
With a string of singles under their belt that offer a wide scope within their creative vision from slow ballads to festival anthems. The releases come in the wake of the announcement of their upcoming debut album, titled Disconnect which has seen the band work with producer Christopher Cachuela at Chaplin’s in Spring City, Pennsylvania.
Commenting on the context behind the forthcoming album, the band says, “Almost all of the songs on this album focus around mental health and self-motivation. Self learning and understanding is something we are big on when it comes to how we feel and the problems we deal with both mentally and physically.”
Now they bring us their most recent single ahead of the album release with the new track “Arrow”. With their latest work, they share a delicate and soothing piece of synth-based indie pop full of intricate melodies and downtempo instrumentation, showing the versatility of their writing and performance talents to build on the excitement for their debut full-length even further.
