Born in South London and growing up in the countryside, the artist now known as Prince of Sweden first stepped into the world of music when he learned guitar from the guy with the farm opposite his house. Since then, he’s gone on to hone his songwriting craft, adding his tender and soulful vocal work to his sound.
Taking influence from songwriters such as Nick Cave and Leonard Cohen, he shares a captivating style that’s both timeless and poignant. Last year saw him make his full artistic introduction with the release of his debut EP, titled Live from a Dark Room, a collection of four of his original compositions performed live.
Following up from the debut EP he now brings us his recent single “Garrison Lane”. Working on a fuller and more rounded sound, with his new single he lays down the very best of his modern indie rock offering.
A blend of delicately pounding percussion drives the rhythm while lightly distorted guitar work fuzzes and wails to form the bedrock of the arrangement as his soft and deep vocal leads float above. With an emotive sonic aesthetic, on “Garrison Lane”, Prince of Sweden delivers a truly profound sound that draws you in and leaves you wanting more.
