Hailing from Los Angeles, Theredspirit is the alias of Filipino-American singer-songwriter and producer Joseph Bautista. With a sound firmly rooted in DIY 90s indie rock, Theredspirit also blends in elements of shoe-gaze, bedroom pop and folk to create his own brand of dreamy music.
Offering catchy vocal leads, twangy guitar tones and honest intimate songwriting, his songs charm and delight as he builds a genuine connection with his listeners. Releasing his debut album, Rebel Without French Fries, in 2020 he’s since followed it up with a moving EP.
Released in September last year, the EP titled Apart From My Heart tackles the subject of long distance relationships and the heartache it brings. Penning a love letter to the one he loves, as well as his audience, he opens himself with an authentic sense of intimacy and vulnerability in his lyricism.
Now working on his sophomore album, set to drop later this year, he brings us his latest single with the track “Blue”. The single was released on Earth day last month and showcases the very best of his alternative indie pop sound. Full of gentle rhythm and colourful guitar work, his soft and restrained vocal lines carry his alluring melodic writing.
