Psychedelic Pop from mUmbo

London-based alternative rock duo mUmbo is formed by virtuoso guitarist Doug MacGowan and singer, violinist and viola player Emma Semple. With their music they flow between different styles from chilled out ethereal soundscapes to high-octane guitar-driven blues, rock and EDM.

Allowing their creativity to take them wherever inspiration strikes, the genre-bending outfit strives to always offer something new. Refusing to be boxed in to any one particular style or genre, with their music they aim to take the listener on a journey through their own unique creative vision, traveling through music for driving and music for dreaming while traversing the expansive sonic worlds they create.

Their debut album, I Fly With Swallows, was released last year to critical acclaim and was partly written in response to the pandemic. With its themes of confinement, the healing power of nature and the longing to freedom and release, they offered a relatable sonic reasoning of the world everyone was experiencing.

Following on from their success last year, they now bring us their second single of 2022 with the new track “Swing My Hip”. Laying down a mesmerising sound, on “Swing My Hip” they offer the very best of their original alternative sound.

Hypnotic and spacey guitar leads weave in and amongst Emma’s laid back, atmospheric vocal lines that are tinged by jazz inspirations. Capturing the essence of the intro to “Gimmie Shelter” by The Rolling Stones, with the latest effort mUmbo share a stunning bluesy cut that builds on their exciting project.
