Based in Bristol, independent singer-songwriter Gully first set out on his music adventure playing piano across the pubs of his hometown Portsmouth. It wasn’t long however, that he started using the jazz and soul styles from his repertoire to influence his own original compositions.
After moving to Bristol and developing his sound, Gully assembled his 6-piece backing band, including a brass section trio to bring his songs to life both on stage and in the studio. Inspired by a wide array of artists such as Easy Life, Louis Armstrong, Lizzo, Chance the Rapper, Nina Simone, Jack Garratt, Radiohead, Supertramp and Queen, Gully creates his own unique brand of melodic indie pop music tinged with jazz tones.
Since his debut in 2019 with the single “Rain”, which formed part of his first EP Student Blues, Gully has gone on to headline the BBC Introducing Stage at Little Orchard Festival and played multiple sold-out shows across the South West of England. Striking a chord with fans and tastemakers alike, his music has earned him several Band of the Week accolades on BBC Radio Bristol and BBC Radio Bath.
Following on from his last single “See the Sun” released in March, he now brings us his latest work with the new track “The View”. A grooving and infectiously catchy song, his latest single offers an anthemic indie pop sound full of big punchy brass lines and soulful vocals.
Looking back on his humble beginnings playing piano in his seaside hometown, with “The View” Gully lays down a timeless statements that here’s here to stay.
