Hailing from Bristol, KALA CHNG is a pop music artist with a Chinese twist. She’s established herself as a true force for good and the embodiment of community in her local area. She’s known in Bristol as a Culture Ambassador and was voted Happiness Champion on last year’s Bristol Cool List.
With her music, she injects her passion and optimism to deliver a joyous sound that spreads love, gratitude and connection. Receiving recognition not just as a priceless member of the community, her songs have gained her extensive radio support across the South West, the UK and beyond, with countless Track of the Week, Month and Year spots.
During the pandemic she used the difficult times to focus on her ambitious new musical endeavour. Working with Tom Wilding as a co-producer she’s recently released her new album titled Star which centres around the theme of everyone being formed from stardust and the ultimate connectivity that brings.
Continuing to share her message of love, forgiveness and community, the twelve-track record features songs that cover different moments in the times of the pandemic, such as lead single “Blind” recounting the dramatic removal of Bristol’s Colston statue and the ensuing ripple effects in its wake.
Throughout Star, KALA CHNG delivers a fierce modern pop sound, full of infectiously catchy vocal leads, bright synthesiser arrangements and grooving danceable rhythms. From an artist that’s already accomplished so much, her latest work shows she has no intention of slowing down as she continues to fly at the top of her game.
