British singer-songwriter Alex Kate is a UK artist on the rise. With her interests in 70s fashion and classic poetry, she crafts a sonic aesthetic that blends retro drums with ethereal vocals in her storytelling music that takes her listeners on deep journeys.
For years Alex Kate took inspiration from other UK artists while she wrote her own music before finally releasing her debut EP last year with Call Me Human. Making an impact straight away with her first effort, she turned the heads of fans and tastemakers alike with her compelling compositions that inspired, consoled and challenged the status quo of the world.
Recently she’s been working on her next EP, Rebel For Love, and took advantage of being in Cape Town, South Africa where she filmed the music videos for the upcoming songs. Ahead of the EP launch show at St Peter’s Church in Notting Hill, London on the 13th of October with the EP dropping the following day, she’s just released the second single from the forthcoming EP with the song “Summer Wagon”.
Coming off the back of the success of her cover version of Fleetwood Mac’s “Dreams” and her own single “One Plus One” which has become wildly popular on TikTok, her latest effort captures the feeling of summer being an old friend that you’ve reunited with once again. Laying down an anthemic sound of breezy indie pop, with her new single Alex Kate delivers a timeless summer song full of delightful melodic leads.

Commenting on the new single, she shares, “The reason why the song is called Summer Wagon, is as though there is a vehicle that takes you to summer each year. For each person it is different, but everyone is welcome.”
Written in its entirety in less than an hour, Alex Kate was struck with the inspiration for the song after playing the 3 random word game with her writing partner and guitarist of Jessie Reyez, Heather Crawford. Recorded with the rest of her forthcoming EP by the sea in Norway, Alex Kate worked with producer Jorgan Manke who comments, “Feeling the warmth of the sun, Ocean, sand, smiles and happiness all around. To me, that’s what summer is all about, and what I think Alex captured beautifully with her single ‘Summer Wagon’.”
Adding, “Inspired by sandy beaches here in Norway, I think we managed to get the production to reflect that same feeling. It was an absolute pleasure producing this, with the very talented Alex Kate on vocals, and the great musicians Arne Bekkeheien (drums), Orjan Kjos (Bass) and Geir Arne Pedersen (guitars). Just in time for summer, add it to Your playlist, and spread this positive summer vibe.”
