Hailing from the lower east side of Manhattan, Sota Koike is an artist making music under the Kid Koid alias. When he was just four years old, he joined the 3rd Street Music Academy and began his musical journey that later saw him enrol in the California Institute of the Arts where he gained a degree in Guitar Performance.
While learning guitar, he would practice by jamming along to virtuoso guitarists such as Stevie Ray Vaughan and Jimi Hendrix, perfecting his technical ability and guitar playing prowess. A huge fan of blues, classic rock and hip hop, he draws on his wide range of sonic influences to craft his own brand of alternative pop music.
Last year he exploded onto the scene with his debut single, “Can’t Help Myself”, quickly racking up over 100 thousand streams on Spotify. Since then he’s dropped a string of well-received singles that have won over fans and tastemakers alike with his charming and enigmatic personality shining through on his songs.
Having released three singles this year, he now brings us his latest work with the recent track “Who’s Dat”. Laying down his fiercely catchy indie pop sound, with his latest single he delivers a grooving pop jam full of bouncy rhythm and infectious vocal leads.
True to his philosophy as a musician to always embrace challenges and continuously improve his sound, on “Who’s Dat”, Kid Koi demonstrates his songwriting talent as well as his musicianship panache on an instantly memorable new single.
