Los Angeles-based singer-songwriter, DJ and producer Heather Christie creates her own unique brand of folk-soul music that’s been making waves all around the world as she’s racked up millions of streams of her songs. As well as her solo artist endeavour, she’s also the founder of the motherhood-focused imprint Möonbabe Records.
Growing up in Santa Cruz she was surrounded by music from an early age, being raised by a family of avid Grateful Dead fans. With a passion for music, her curiosity was sparked as she embarked on a lifelong creative journey that’s seen her embed herself in the performing arts, dance and music production worlds. Starting to perform at just five years old, she progressed to singing in classical choirs, competing at teen singing competitions and starring in Broadway musicals.
Her stellar musical career has seen her clock an endless list of achievements with her name attached to a plethora of successful projects. A co-founder of music projects such as Silk Drop, Honeywild, Sirens of Soul and Feral Fauna, the latter gained viral status with millions of plays on the track “Tincture”.
Now her latest interest is the music of other cultures and has focused on writing, singing and producing her own tribal house tracks. With her infectious live shows she DJs, sings and dances while joined by her husband who brings extra live performance flair with world instruments such as the sintir from Morocco.
With one of her latest releases she brings us her recent single titled “Pray”. The first collaboration between Heather Christie and the rising artist CRITTER, the pair link up on the atmospheric electro pop cut. The new track comes after the tragic loss of Heather’s brother Forrest who sadly passed away late last year following a heroin overdose.
As one of the loves of Forrest’s life, CRITTER linked up with Heather and bonded over their shared loss. Pairing their unique sonic talents, together deliver a touching tribute via a deeply grooving jam full of delicate vocal leads and a danceable beat. The single sits on a three-track release that features two additional versions of the track, showcasing the composition in contrasting lights.
