Based between the Dutch city of Rotterdam and Portgual, Daisy Cools has dreamt about making music and traveling the world to perform in other countries ever since she was a child. She was originally inspired by her father who was a musician and would play music by The Kinks day and night, igniting a passion in Daisy Cools from an early age.
When she was just thirteen, she formed her first band and continued to play music during her school years and while studying at university. After obtaining a master’s degree, she was hand-picked to join a songwriting course in Manchester by Ray Davies; a poignant event that saw Daisy Cools connect with the lead singer of the band that her musician father so adored.
During this time Daisy wrote many of the songs that would end up on her debut album The Secrets We Keep as she embarked on the travels she’d so longed for. With long stints in several cities all over Europe, she penned new songs and performed them to audiences, resulting in a series of EPs influenced by the locations they were written including The Paris File, The Palermo File and The Lisbon File.
Now gearing up to release her sophomore record, she brings us the lead single from the upcoming album with the new track “First Aid Kit”. Offering a personal anecdote about fears and phobias, the song is wrapped up in an appropriate summery sound of Daisy Cools’ typically delicate indie folk style.
The single will also have versions recorded in French, Portuguese and Italian ahead of the artist’s most ambitious project to date, releasing her new album in four different languages.
