Femegades are the London-based alternative rock that answer the question of ‘what if Bikini Kill and The Clash had a lovechild that was raised by Courtney Love?’. Pairing the energy and rhythm of punk music with impassioned vocals carrying infectiously catchy lead lines, their music is an explosive tonic of modern grungey rock.
The female-fronted group covers themes such as women being subjected to male violence and consent in their thoughtful lyricism which delivers important and reflective messages. With an optimistic outlook, they offer a soundtrack to the questions that need answers and shed light on topics that need to be brought to the forefront of conversation.
Last year they made their introduction with the single titled “Pornsick”, which was followed later in the year with the five-track debut EP of the same name and earned the band an honorary Riot GRRRL badge. Picking up where they left off last year, their upcoming sophomore EP, Not All Men, they’re once again tackling challenging topics with their own brand of melodic punk rock.
With the first release of this year, they bring us the lead single from the forthcoming EP with the track “Speechless”. Taking aim at the throwaway and useless remark of ‘not all men’, with the recent single they hold a mirror up to anyone who hides behind the phrase instead of engaging in constructive discussion.
Offering the perfect taste of the Femegades sound, “Speechless” lays down a driving hard rock sound full of catchy vocal work and fuzzy guitar crunch. Building excitement for their second EP, the single demonstrates a band going from strength-to-strength as they rip through social issues in their dazzling punk rock style.
