Tel-Aviv-based DJ and electronic music producer Omer Luz works under the alias Peter Spacey and as his chosen moniker would suggest, is a lover of all things space. Having made a name for himself as a cutting edge artist of glitching grooves and spaced out beats, he focuses on the crossroads between sonic and visual worlds to craft vivid and immersive multimedia experiences.
Originally, Peter Spacey came from a more traditional, jazz oriented background and trained as a keyboard player. However, in his spare time he would experiment with turntablism and master his DJ skills, finding his true calling as a pioneering electronic artist.
In 2018 he made his debut with his first beat tape, the aptly titled Spacey Video Beat Tape released via the Inchpersecond imprint. Setting the tone for his artistic vision going forward, the beat tape was an audio-visual journey inspired by GIFs and saw Peter Spacey collaborate with visual artists and graphic designers all over the world to pair digital art to his lofi beats.
Now he returns with another engrossing work of music and visual fusion, this time linking up with Analog Front; a fellow Israeli creative based in Jerusalem. Analog Front is an innovative video artist and projection mapper who lectures in his field at the Musrara school of arts in his home city, making him the perfect collaborator to bring Peter Spacey’s vibrant ideas to life in visual form.
Together they’ve created a stunning live audio-visual piece titled “Analog Space” which sees the two artists perform in an art installation. Playing live on stage the pair deliver an incredible artistic experience that sees Peter Spacey lay down his trademark grooving electronic jams while Analog Front spins wild video synthesis that projects all around the pair in perfect synchronisation.
