Matt Redmond presents: ”Like Clockwork”

North Dublin-born Matt Redmond has been singing, playing the guitar, and performing live from a very young age. Throughout his adolescence, he participated in several bands, and then attended BIMM Dublin in order to further study his guitar work.

It was here that he discovered a deep love for songwriting and production, which eventually led him to found the progressive rock group KÎND. KÎND recorded and published six tracks, all of which were played around Dublin, further to which Redmond took the decision to release his own entirely independent music.

“Like Clockwork” is a solo work of Redmond’s, which he wrote, recorded, and produced in its entirety. Powerful pop undertones are set against a sumptuous background of acoustic guitars, melodic vocals, and shimmering pianos, expertly weaved together to provide its listeners with an extremely immersive and all-encompassing experience. 

Redmond’s initial intention was only to release the song’s chord progression on Instagram. This evolved into generating a few variations of the chord sequence, which he then began stacking one over another whilst recording them. He quickly felt a strong impulse to continue once he had started listening back and, before long, he was deep in the recording of parts for what would eventually become the finished article.

Redmond has said that the process of composing and creating this song was an exceptionally joyful one for him, given that it was the result of an intrinsic inspiration that began to flow through him without any real preconceived anticipation. The effortless process involved in the song really shines through to its listener, providing a level of joy, which in itself, is also innately gifted.
