New album from Ruto

Hailing from South Central Los Angeles, Ruto is an artist who dedicates his work to connecting the diverse styles of his home city into his own unique ambient style music. From an early age he taught himself about music by mixing the melodies and rhythms of genres such as jazz, soul and punk into laid back grooves.

After forming a band several years ago, since 2016, Ruto has ventured out as a solo artist playing guitar, bass and drums himself with different musicians joining for live performances. Forever on a path of learning, developing and improving his work, when he’s not on stage he’s keeping up his DIY ethos by producing art with other creatives to help nurture a community of self-sufficiency and collaboration.

Over the last year he’s dropped a string of well-received singles in the lead up to his latest work, the debut album titled Pan Dulce. Offering a stunning snapshot of the LA local art scene, the record showcases a collaboration between various artists of different mediums, all applying their talents and visions to bring the music and visuals to life.

Bending from chill and somber melodic tones to emphatic dream pop ballads while journeying through various styles of bedroom pop, indie rock and soul, Pan Dulce is a whirlwind sonic trip through Ruto’s expressive and charismatic creative vision. Opening with the breezy jam “No Repeats”, throughout the album the artist lays down countless memorable moments with a sound that’s as original and it is spellbinding.
