New music from Kelly Phoenix

Los-Angeles based artist Kelly Phoenix, like his namesake, has been reborn out of his own ashes. Bursting onto the scene earlier this year with his well-received debut single “No Mistake”, he’s made an instant impact with his own brand of gothic funk pop.

With his first solo project, he’s spent almost two years behind the curtain working on Resurrection which is due to drop this summer. Pairing dark grooves with infectious melodic writing, his lyricism targets themes of heartbreak, isolation, spirituality and rebirth all wrapped up in his own perspective of the human condition.

Laying down a modern rhythm-driven style, he cooks up a catchy sound that fuses elements of alternative rock, R&B, soul and contemporary pop to create something entirely new. A storyteller at heart, throughout the first chapter of his sonic journey he’s recounting his own healing process, recovery and eventual rise to sunnier days.

Now back with his follow up to “No Mistake”, Kelly Phoenix brings us his sophomore single “Black Magic Spell”. Spinning a gloomy funk sound featuring a danceable beat punchy synth lines and his assured vocal delivery, with his new track he offers a grooving pop cut that serves to demonstrate his talents as a gifted songwriter and charismatic performer.

Full of cinematic aesthetic and tinged with Michael Jackson vibes courtesy of a shiny arrangement of 80s style instrumentation, “Black Magic Spell” lays down a fierce pop sound with bags of commercial appeal. Representing the first stage of Kelly Phoenix’s artistic transformation, with his second single the artist comes out swinging and builds further excitement for his next release.
