Stromer Hills is the rising pop sensation from Canada who burst onto the scene by clocking almost half a millions spins on Soundcloud in just his first year. Building on his early momentum and striding from strength-to-strength, he’s continued to drop a string of well-received releases such as “BETTER OFF” which hit #1 across all countries for three weeks last summer. Following that up with “LOVERS”, he secured #10 around the world three months later and hit the ground running this year with “LEMONZ FREESTYLE” which proved a hit by entering the R&B charts at #2 in February.
Originally growing up in Calgary, he and his father would listen to music in the car and play ‘name that tune’ instilling a passion for music in Stromer Hills from an early age. With an initial musical diet of mostly classic and heavy rock acts such as Creedence Clearwater Revival, Travelling Wilburys, Ozzy Osbourne and AC/DC, Stromer Hills went on to play in bands as a drummer, guitar and bass player before eventually being encouraged to pick up the microphone when his band’s singer couldn’t perform.
Starting to craft his own music as a solo artist years later, he made the move from Northern Alberta to the West Coast to pursue his music dream. Now an established act making waves in the pop music space, he brings us his latest release with his new single titled “if u like the way I walk”.
Following on from his EP Skar Boy released earlier this year, his new single has had an instant impact. Peaking at #4 on the global R&B and Soul: New & Hot charts and racking up over 17,500 plays on Soundcloud, “if u like the way I walk” delivers more of Stromer Hills’ infectiously catchy pop sound.
Having developed a lasting connection with his fans, he’s using his music and message to provide hope and shed light on the positive side of life via his optimistic outlook. “There really is a lot of hurt in the world right now, but I think there’s an equal or greater amount of blessings that we’re ignoring and I think a big part of that is the narrative that’s being pushed,” he shares.
Continuing, “I think there simply needs to be a shift of focus from the negative to the positive. I truly believe and have experienced the fact that thoughts and words can become reality, so going forward I want to embody that as much as I can through music and provide my listeners with… a breath of fresh air.”
Having composed his latest single almost in an instant, the vocals you hear on the finished track are the original vocals takes he recorded on the spot. Capturing a snapshot moment to reflect the context of the song, “if u like the way I walk” is written about what the artist describes as ‘airport love’, that fleeting spark and connection that appears organically and at random between two people passing by, only to never see each other again.
