Originally growing up on the edge of an apple orchard in rural Wisconsin, artist Smith St. Nicholas is now based in Harlem, New York. The singer-songwriter and producer’s main focus with his music is to make other peoples’ lives more fulfilling and meaningful, a sentiment made even more profound by the story of what he’s overcome to get to where he is today.
His journey is a testament to his grit and determination, going from living on food stamps to success as an international touring musician with significant medical trauma along the way. When he was teaching English in rural China, he suddenly fell ill, with the infection quickly moving to his lungs and throat, leading to the artist losing his ability to sing for six years.
Being forced to put his musical endeavours on hold, it was over half a decade before he was able to pick up where he left off. With a yearning to sing and a burning desire to return to his passion, he penned a song that captures the feeling he had when he finally regained his singing voice.
His debut single, “Our Storyline”, is an emotive alternative pop outing that sees Smith St. Nicholas return to his vocal prowess with a poignant sense of euphoria at regaining an ability he once thought was lost. Produced by Smith St. Nicholas, mixed by Brent Kolatalo and mastered by Joe LaPorta, with “Our Storyline”, the artist delivers an epic and uplifting song full of memorable writing and instantly catchy vocal lines.
