Christine Sako‘s music journey started two decades ago when she first heard Avril Lavigne’s “Complicated” and instantly knew she wanted to be a guitar-wielding singer-songwriter too.
She started out recording her original songs and then sent them to friends, claiming to have just stumbled across them online, in order to get objective feedback from them; when she heard good things unknowingly said about her own songs, she knew she was on to something.
Born and raised in Minneapolis, it was in 2009 when she first got an opportunity to tour with the indie pop outfit Now Now, which led to a two year adventure that saw them opening up for bands such as Paramore and Paper Route before Christine eventually decided to return to her solo work. In 2012, she packed up her guitar and 25 key MIDI controller and drove across the country to San Diego where she started writing and recording her debut album.
Her first full-length release was dropped in 2014 with the album The Math Project, fusing acoustic and synth-based instrumentation wrapped up in a California-inspired sound. Since then she’s released a string of singles over the years, with the most recent being “Coda” from 2021.
Showcasing the very best of her infectiously catchy indie pop sound, on “Coda”, Christine Sako lays down an upbeat and rhythmic hit, full of synth tones and smooth melodic vocal leads. This year she’s lined up three remixes of the single featuring electronic spins from artists such as Filthy Guys, Klubjumpers and Stonebridge.
