Hailing from Alberta, Canada, The Bobby Tenderloin Universe is more than just a band; it’s a community and a movement. Led by frontman and band namesake Bobby Tenderloin, the Canadian country outfit has been dazzling fans with their live performances including multiple sell out shows at The Great Escape festival which resulted in high demand for the band to deliver studio recordings of their music.
Tenderloin’s upbringing had a profound influence on his musical journey, stemming back to his unbreakable bond with his grandmother. A traveling ragtime pianist, Bobby’s grandmother was his hero and the two of them would spend countless hours with four hands on one piano as she passed down her musical gift and sparked a passion in her grandchild.
Instilling an undying love of lifting people up through the power of music, his grandmother helped shape the young Bobby into the musician he is today. Coincidentally, Bobby happened to be born on the same day his pastor grandfather Sigmond passed away, with legend saying that his spirit and devotion to expressing unconditional love through music passing on to Bobby.
Now an accomplished artist, Bobby Tenderloin has assembled a band of experienced musicians that share his understanding of life, championing love, acceptance and human connection, sentiments which shine through in their sonic work. Usually involving seven members, The Bobby Tenderloin Universe features drums, bass, acoustic guitar, pedal steel, two backing vocalists and piano to back up Bobby’s leads.
Signed to Keeping On Records, the band brings us their debut single with the song “That’s All I’m Sayin'”. Laying down the perfect introduction to their sound, with their debut single The Bobby Tenderloin Universe crafts a beautiful and timeless piece of country music.
Commenting on the song, Bobby Tenderloin shares, “One day my buddy, Toothpick, sent me a guitar riff she recorded on her phone. Later that week, I was mowing the lawn with the riff in my head, and the next thing I knew, the whole story came to me in the form of lyrics and melodies and That’s All I’m Sayin’ came to life. I believe the song conveys a specific type of innocence and naivety that most boys have experienced in one way or another. On occasion, I’ve even seen it in grown men, lol.”
