Trevour Amunga is a Los Angeles-based rapper and songwriter who was originally born in Kenya before moving to California in 2008 following the civil war in his home country. Seeking sanctuary on the West Coast of the USA, Trevour had always written his own music but only started recording his compositions in 2015.
Taking influence from the likes of Kendrick Lamar, the Outkast, Sly and Blu, these artists have always inspired Trevour in an especially poetic way. With his own sound he lays down a rhythmic modern hip hop style with synth-led arrangements and vocals that swing between hard-hitting rap lines and alternative R&B vibes.
Last year he made his debut with his first official release “Drama”, followed soon by his first EP titled For Akira. Now he brings us his sophomore EP with another seven-track release called Vespa, meaning evening prayer.
Written in 2020 around the time the artist tragically lost his father to cancer, Vespa covers themes of Trevour’s battle with his faith in God, mourning and the fear of not finding peace of mind. With a special emotional significance, with his latest EP Trevour Amunga shares a moving sonic journey that features his razor-sharp vocal work and a stunning sound palette creating a truly original sound as the artist goes from strength-to-strength with each new release.
