New music from Midheach

Irish musician Cóilín Ó Midheach creates cinematic and atmospheric music under his last name as an alias. Midheach, pronounced ‘me-ock’, is a family name that traces its origin back to the folktales of the Tuatha Dé Danann, as well as a story of regeneration and healing; a poignant and befitting connection that perfectly suits and adds deeper meaning to the ethereal sound of his music.

In 2020, during the first lockdown and times of unprecedented uncertainty, the artist made his introduction and released his debut EP titled Unity-Divinity-Love. The message and context behind the release made a profound impression with its listeners who sought solace in the work.

Midheach notes that rather than methodical and deliberate composition, the songs were ‘received’, creating a delicate bond between the artist and something powerful and celestial. Weaving his Celtic roots into the fabric of his sound, the artist embraces the heavens while maintaining a firm connection to the ground and the history of Irish tradition and mythology.

Lifted from the EP is the song and lead single “Little Rose”, a stunning and dreamy piece that mesmerises and charms as it meanders through more than eight minutes of elegant arrangement and vocal work. Now Midheach brings us a reimagining of the original with his latest release “Little Rose – Winter Solstice Mix”.

Adding even more atmosphere and delicate textures to the song, with “Little Rose – Winter Solstice Mix”, Midheach breathes new life into an astonishingly graceful composition. Too long to fit onto a traditional 7″ record, the new single is also released in physical format on a split 8″ vinyl.
